Packed these treats up for the kids teachers. Can you see how the skeleton face came out?? My boy thought it was cool...but sorry... I wasn't impressed. I guess I need to find better pens!!! And practice a little more. The little packages looked pretty festive! FUN!

Ghost and mummy

This is the ghost and mummy. The frankentsein one is... just not good! I will put a picture up later! Take a look at the ghost- the ink just didn't work correctly! Oh bother...

Tried out the cake pops--Did NOT have much luck with these!!!!

I was very unhappy with the cake pops. ( I saw these on...yes you guessed it.. the bakerella website- http://www.bakerella.com/) I bought these markers at my local craft store (edible ink) and they just didn't work right. They would not write nicely on the melted white bark. SO I tried out the mummy pop. It turned out ..o.k. Still not impressed. While I was dipping the cake, I noticed some of the pops were cracking while they were drying. UGH Very frustrating! I was so bummed. I guess it was worth a shot!

candy corn cookies??

I used a regular old knife to cut the dough and form these...when they came out of the oven I thought to myself.. these would have looked so much cuter if I had made them small! Oh well..next time! Orange Sugar cookie (I dyed it with the wilton orange paste coloring) dipped in melted white bark and milk chocolate chips. YUM!

Glitter bats!

We've gone a little batty! Here they are! My sidekick put the glitter sprinkles on...These sugar cookies smell so buttery and sweet..oh so good! AND-- they are great with a cup of tea.

Halloween Baking

These are our sugar cookies...my little side kick helped me out w/ these. Yes, she LOVES to be in the kitchen. I was aiming for a more "neat" look. BUT it was a half day at school for the kids. A rainy day is a good day for baking and when my little helpers are home...it makes for great fun. Check out our ghost and cat. We made our own sugar cookie dough. (This dough is AMAZING- the recipe is  an original, from my cousin Jo. She is a fabulous cook!) Then, we frosted them w/ royal frosting. ROYAL FROSTING: Confectionary sugar, some milk..and I added a touch of vanilla. For the color we used WILTON icing color.

What did the boy do in the kitchen while we decorated... well...if you must know- he made a cake. Yup! He read the directions on the back of the dunkin hines box and made his own cake! What great helpers I have!!!
We will use his cake to try out those ghost pops!
Can't wait!

Trying to figure this picassa album out!

This is a cake I made in September for a friend. Special request...  a replica of a 1979 wedding cake from an original photo! It was a very fun experience. It was my first "big" cake for someone other than one of my children! It was a freshly baked  deep chocolate cake, w/ a chocolate mousse filling and homemade buttercream frosting. I love the buttercream frosting recipe I use. It's called a crusting buttercream. It is great to work with and taste SO GOOD!!!
I used a very crafty technique...something I have never heard of..called.. the "VIVA" papertowel!!!!  It helps smooth out any parts of the frosting that might not be as smooth as you want it. I will start posting recipes really soon!

These are my famous Chocolate Chip Cookies (or CCC's for short!) Everyone asks me for this recipe! They are so simple...made with fresh ingredients! And yes, I bake them at least once a week! Unless I need to share some with a new friend, to cheer someone up, or to send on a trip! (sometimes they even make special trips via the us postal service!--Only for very special people)

I had so much fun trying these cupcakes out! I think cupcakes are my new obsession! They are so pretty! Yet still simple looking. These turned out to be a tasty treat for a little get together we had.

This was a test run for a mini cake for a friend...
